Render using Vray frame buffer and save out to Jpg

Postby tangiblevisual » Mon Jul 13, 2020 4:38 pm

Hi,

Perhaps someone can help me.

I have bunch of passes set up and I've been rendering locally so far, saving out to jpg with a few simple vray frame buffer adjustments. This works great for quick iterations and rapid client communication, since I can set it off and the output goes directly into google drive.

But I now need to move this onto the farm, but I don't see a way to do this. At first only the max frame buffer was coming up, since reading the forum I have found out how to disable that and enable the Vray frame buffer and saving to V-Ray raw image file output in .exr with auto-pathing. I'm stuck on the last step, a method to save in jpg with the vray frame buffer adjustments applied.

Thanks for any assistance.

Dan

I've figured it out.. here are the settings I used in case this can help anyone else.

Network rendering with Vray Frame Buffer and RPManager

Common Params Tab:

Untick - Save File
Untick - VFB
Tick - Auto Path Generation on Submit (and populate, set extension as jpg)
Tick - Ld Ext.

Output Menu > Open Vray Cache/RAW Manager:

Enable Auto Pathing (NB it takes the path from the common params Tab - Auto path generation)
Tick - Auto RAW Path
Tick - Auto Enable Split (main output format)
Tick - Force Enable built-in Vray Buffer

Renderer Setup Tab:

Tick - Enable built-in Frame Buffer
Tick - RAW Save Color Corrections
Tick - Render to memory frame buffer
Tick - V-Ray raw image file
Tick - Save separate render channels
Tick - Save RGB

Output menu > Setup your output preferences

Sounds right, thanks for posting the steps - the name of the checkbox 'Auto Enable Split (main output format)' is named that way to indicate that the way to control what it is split to is the main 3dmax render output, so if you wanted png you'd set the main output to png in the same way you've set it to jpg in your steps.

cheers,
grant
